Malcolm X | Short Black Histories

By the time Malcolm Little was 20 years of age, he had sold and taken enough drugs and burgled enough houses to become a hardened criminal, gain himself a criminal record and an 8-10 year sentence for burglary. By the end of his life, at the age of 39, he was one of the most recognisable faces on the planet.

Malcolm X transformed himself into an intellectual, political and ethical force to be reckoned with. 

He became an international spokesperson for Africans in the US, Americas and the UK, travelling to Birmingham shortly after the “rivers of blood” speech by Enoch Powell. He spoke out against the occupation of Palestine, South Africa and Africans worldwide.

But how much would he have achieved without a chance to make himself clean?
